LHC is back online!
Ok, so the original design spec was for 574 TeV(× 10^-7) per nucleus. This firing was at 450 GeV(× 10^-10) per particle. So, 1000 orders of magnitude lower than intended, so far. Still holding out for a high level test not going wrong...again

Edit: More information. They plan to scale up the beam to about 3.5 TeV by 2010 but it will have to be shut down after that to get the beam up to its intended 7TeV scale. 7TeV is the intended target and it is still a long way off (7x82(atomic weight of lead)=574 number above). A lot can go wrong in that amount of time, best of luck to them!

The Tevatron will most likely stay the more powerful collider till sometime in mid/later 2010

Laughing Gas is funny.... very funny
Interesting, they seem very aware as well. I wonder how aware you are in NO2?

LHC is back online!
Back when it first broke, I remember them saying they never planed to get it fixed enough to do what it was originally designed to do...making only slightly more powerful than other colliders. I have been unable to find any information on if it has been left in this reduced state or is back at 100% of original design specifications.

Hannity: Jon Stewart Was Right
You're putting the cart before the horse and already assuming that is what happened. The only REAL difference between the 2 videos was the anchors knew one wasn't correct because it was blindly obvious, and the former they weren't able to. If you want to give people the benefit of the doubt that's fine, just try and be consistent is what I am saying.

Sorry GeesusFreak, broadcast media doesn't work like that.

Even if the editor was given specific pieces, he/she would STILL know what was going on. At that point, you are either ethical, or you are not. These people are not ethical, as history has shown time and time again. This isn't even a debate. It's empirical.

I understand the need to label MSNBC as some far-left bastion of communist propaganda. But unless you have any links to when that news org has ever misused footage to bolster their mis-truths and bias, I'm just not going to believe it.

Federal Reserve Is An Abortion Of A Banking Regulator
Hey great sift. Why don't you hear from reasonable people like this on the main stream news. Even if it was some person spouting some ideology that I don't agree with, the tone of this ACTUAL interview is a scarce thing now a days. Thanks for the sift!

NASA: Water found in Moon crater
Come and listen to a story about a government body named NASA
A poor underfunded government organization, barely kept its hundreds of thousands of families fed,
Then one day he was shootin at some moon,
And up through the ground came a bubblin' crude.

Water that is, clear gold, for making tea.

Well the first thing you know ol' NASA's a worth is billions there,
Country folk said NASA move away from here
Said Moonyforinia is the place you ought to be
So they loaded up the rockets and moved to Heilein crater B.

hole, that is.
Swimmin pools, moving stars.

The NASA Hillbillies!
